Welcome back parents and students of the River Rouge New Tech High International Academy where Greatness is in Action. It is with great pleasure that we serve you each and every day. I am very excited about the 2011-2012 school year, it promises to be the best that we have had to date. I am the new Director/Principal who is very interested in our students having a sense of pride and anticipation about the up-coming year. We have worked very diligently this summer to change our school culture and learning environment to a very positive and structured one. It is with these changes that we have an opportunity to create a positive and professional learning community for your child.

There is an incredible energy and excitement about the New Tech High Model. Our dedicated staff has invested their time and energy to help us continue along the path that we have begun in raising the standard of excellence for our students.

New Tech Trainers will be working with our teachers and students to ensure that this year is better than the previous academic year. We have an unbeatable combination of expertise that promises to help us reach every child in River Rouge Public Schools.

We are expecting that every student will strive for excellence and reach their greatest potential. In an effort to maintain academic excellence, an all out commitment from our staff will continue to ensure that our 11th grade students will perform well on the MME (Michigan Merit Exam). We don’t confess to know all the answers but we are confident we will reach our goals if we all (students, teachers, and parents) are working towards this shared goal. We are asking for your full support, to remind students of the seriousness of school. It is our expectation that they come to school prepared (listening to and following instructions, homework completed, and zero tolerance for fighting/abuse). “It takes a village to raise a child,” and with all of us working together this can be accomplished. As a form of support for our students we will have before and after school tutoring, Saturday School, Credit Recovery, Dual Enrollment, CTE Classes and a host of Wrap Around Intervention Services that will support all of our students.

Upon arrival of this upcoming school year:

  • All students are expected to have note books and pens/pencils
  • All students are to follow our dress code (Student Hand Book)
  • Schedules will be given out in designated areas in building by grade level.

Again, this promises to be an extraordinary school year. Please feel free to contact us for further information. We cannot wait to see you on the first day of school.

Educationally yours,
Nick Edwards
Principal/Director
