Introducing Principal Williams

Greetings River Rouge School Community Members,

It is with immense pleasure that I write this introductory letter as the newly appointed Principal of River Rouge High School for the 2022/2023 school year, and beyond. My name is Renita M. Williams, and I am excited about the educational journey we will embark upon together.

I am a Detroit native and was educated through Detroit Public Schools. My professional journey in education begin in 2006, as a Michigan certified Mathematics Teacher, at Chandler Park Academy. My passion for teaching, learning, and student success opened an administrative path that included Mathematics Department Head, School Improvement Chair, Section 504 Coordinator, Testing Coordinator, Secondary Instructional Leader, K-8 Title I Summer School Principal, High School Interim and Assistant Principal. My most recent administrative experience includes serving as Middle School Assistant Principal and Athletic Supervisor for Farmington Public Schools.

As a passionate life-long learner, it is my goal to remain abreast of effective and most recent educational practices. This fall, I will continue my personal academic journey at Wayne State University to begin coursework for the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. I earned the Educational Specialist Certificate in General Supervision and Administration, Master of Education in Instructional Technology, and Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Wayne State University. In my spare time, I enjoy hosting family events, gardening, traveling, reading, learning about new cultures and ethnicities, serving my community, and I am a mom to a nine-year-old Shih Tzu named Hemi.

Continuing the River Rouge family-centered legacy with the vision of providing a safe and supportive educational learning community where students can gain 21st Century knowledge, skills, and values is my primary focus. I wholeheartedly believe every child can learn, deserves a high-quality education, and exposure to positive life-changing opportunities. My beliefs are centered around educating the whole child in a diverse environment that fosters caring, respectful, and compassionate interactions.

I look forward to meeting all stakeholders to ensure we are collaboratively working towards the personal stake of student success for all.

With Panther Pride,

Renita M. Williams, Ed.S.
River Rouge High School Principal
