Welcome to Clarence B. Sabbath Middle School

Greetings Sabbath Family,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my excitement about my appointment as Principal at Clarence B. Sabbath 6-8 Preparatory Academy.  As school leader my goal is to facilitate and promote a school culture focused on student learning, a commitment to high expectations, innovation and collaboration.  It is my intention to implement and focus on these important traditions and practices.

Let me share some information about my educational background and professional experience.  After graduating from Osborn High School, I attended Upper Iowa University.  While at UIU, I majored in Elementary Education and studied Psychology.  After receiving my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Psychology, I attended the Wayne State University where I earned a Masters of Arts in School Guidance Counseling and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership.  I began my professional career with the Detroit Public Schools as Elementary Teacher at Edmonson Elementary for three years.  Afterwards, I served as School Guidance Counselor at Bagley Elementary for four years.  Soon after, I served as Assistant Principal at Lessenger K-8 and Marquette K-8 Schools respectfully.   Furthermore, I served as Principal at Hamilton K-8 School.  For the past six years, I served as Principal of Clark Preparatory Academy.

This year’s goal at Sabbath 6-8 Preparatory Academy is “Academic Excellence. Where Everyone Learns, Every Day”.  It’s imperative that we provide our students the highest possible education.  We must exhaust all systems and resources while preparing our students to become productive citizens in society.  My goal as Principal is to encourage, motivate, and provide support for each and every Stakeholder at Sabbath.  It’s imperative that we work together as a TEAM.  We must all work to make each other better and more productive.  In return, the students at Sabbath will receive the skills and knowledge needed to compete nationally and globally.  I look forward to meeting each and every one of you as we embark on the start of a very successful and rewarding 2017-18 School Year.

 Educationally Yours,

Demond Thomas
