Welcome to the month of May!
We are finishing the school year strong, and we need your help to get us there! Our Attendance Matters Campaign is in full swing now through June, and students have a chance to win Beats headphones or an iPad; just for showing up!
Every day your child walks through those doors is another entry toward an incredible prize. Consistent attendance not only keeps students connected to their learning — it could also land them some serious tech. Encourage your scholar to be present, be on time, and stay engaged as we head into the home stretch.
Summer School Registration is Now Open!
We are also excited to share that summer school registration is officially open and it is completely FREE for RRPS students and any student in the River Rouge community!
Summer school is a great option if your child:
- Has a high absentee rate and needs to make up learning time
- Could benefit from reinforcing skills before the next school year
- Thrives with structured learning and extra support over the summer
Spots are limited and filling up quickly, so don't wait — register your student today!
Sabbath parents, students, and the River Rouge community, please take a moment to check out our March Highlights! This month was filled with incredible moments—from our wonderful Scholastic Book Club, to our first debate match at Wayne State University 3/14, to celebrating Pi Day on 3/16, and welcoming readers and special visitors throughout our building. Sabbath Middle School continues to do amazing things, and we are proud of all that our scholars and staff are accomplishing. We invite you to look back on these special moments and join us in looking forward to even more exciting events ahead!
Dear Sabbath Middle School Parents and Families,
March is here, and that means it’s time for one of our favorite celebrations of the year—Spirit Month: Reading Month at Sabbath Middle School!
Throughout the month, our students and staff will be celebrating the joy, power, and importance of reading in fun and engaging ways. From Reading with a Friend Day, to Comfy Socks & Cozy Reading Day, Hats Off to Reading, and even Dress as Your Favorite Book Character Day, our building will be filled with excitement, creativity, and school spirit.
Reading is more than an academic skill—it builds imagination, strengthens critical thinking, and prepares our scholars for success, especially as we move into April and state testing season. Spirit Month is designed to keep our students motivated, confident, and enthusiastic about learning while reinforcing the strong literacy skills they use every day.
We encourage you to join the fun at home by:
Asking your scholar about what they’re reading
Setting aside family reading time
Helping them select a favorite book character costume
Celebrating their reading growth and effort
Together, we can make March a month filled with positive energy, school pride, and a shared love of reading.
Let’s have fun, celebrate literacy, and finish this school year strong!
Scholastic Book Fair Is Now Open!

We look forward to seeing students at the in-person fair and appreciate your support in helping grow a love of reading in our school community. Happy reading!
