After-School Academic Programming

Dear High School Panther Families:

River Rouge High School will facilitate an After-School Tutoring and Credit Recovery Program in order to provide our scholars with additional academic resources after the traditional school day.  The programs will be offered Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:15-5:15pm.  The scholars can receive a snack immediately after school and report to tutoring no later than 3:30pm.

Collaboratively with the scholar, teacher, tutor, parent and administration, support will be provided in order to improve skills in math, science, English, and social studies.  It is imperative that we have the support of the scholar and parent in order to make this tutoring productive.  Scholars are expected to be timely, in attendance regularly, behave appropriately, and participate. Teachers are making recommendations based on scholars who need additional support and are not passing core classes. Counselors will assess and notify students for credit recovery.  There is a fee associated with Credit Recovery but there is no fee for after-school tutoring.

Due to the weather and days off recently, the date has been adjusted.  Please ensure that your scholar reports to the After-School Academic Programs, which begins on Monday, February 11, 2019.  A late bus is offered for scholars who need transportation but must sign up for the bus which will leave at 5:30pm.  Please contact the main office for more information or to fill out a bus form.  We look forward to collaborating with you in order to continue to propel your scholar forward in his/her education at River Rouge High School.

Sincerely,

River Rouge High School Staff and Administration

  • Two River Rouge students (Britney Rivers and Lord-Amani Cooper) were awarded with the Bill Gates Millenium Scholarship.
  • Our football team played in the state finals and were awarded distinction as Academic All-State.
  • This year saw the return of the River Rouge Theatre Ensemble, who produced two shows.
  • We successfully added Advanced Placement and Honors courses to our schedule.
  • The Culinary Arts program successfully opened the Taste of Rouge Cafe right inside of RRHS.
  • A partnership between River Rouge School District and Beaumont Health resulted in the River Rouge Teen Health Center, which serves all of our students' medical needs, as well as health awareness, prevention, and support.
